Morgan Freeman Narrating Dave Chappelle Walking Through The Desert In An Absurdly Long T Shirt Is The Strangest Video You'll See Today
I’m not going to lie, I had to watch that video twice to figure out what the fuck was going on. That’s a lot of content for one sixty-second clip. You have Chappelle, the desert, the absurdly long T shirt. I’m not going to pretend I know fashion, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t it…
…or maybe it is, I don’t know. Then you have Morgan Freeman quietly alluding to the fact that comedy has become a “high stakes game” that Chappelle isn’t willing to play. Which is great because it means he’s not going to change his material based on what people may or may not think of his jokes. He’s not worried about the repercussions of what he says. He doesn’t care about being PC. All he wants to do is make people laugh. He said it in a round about way, but that’s what he said.
I get why he choose Freeman too, everyone sounds better in his voice. If Gilbert Gottfried did the VO no one would watch the special. It’s a strange move but it makes sense. If a comedian bitches about how hard it is being a comedian, no one listens. But if a movie star with the voice a generation does, people pay attention. He didn’t bury the lead either. Sticks & Stones comes out August 26th and I CAN’T WAIT. Now here’s one of my favorite clips.
